Long Tower Youth And Community Centre exists for the improvement, well-being and quality of life of the residents in the area by enabling them to fully participate in society by preventing people from being socially excluded. This is done by relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate in to society.

The wider community benefits from the positive contribution made by children and young people to their communities as a result of their engagement with the Club. This benefit is incidental and necessary for the work of the organisation to take place.

Senior Youth Club (13 Years +) .....

Our Streets.

Our streets is an outreach Programme which is primarily aimed at engaging with young people who gather in Derry Town Centre, we work collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify hot spots areas within the town centre and surrounding areas. are staff team have a two-prong approach to engagement, there will be a street team who will engage with young within their environment in their effort to build positive relationships with young people at at their pace and in response to their needs, this is supported by having the city centre youth provision, that provides drop-in, one to one and group work as well as the diversionary interventions that are bespoke to each individual.

We do this by Providing .....

  1. A programme delivered on agreed nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 19:00 to 23.00).

  2. Flexibility to respond to emerging needs that lend support to Extended Provision and START youth provision.

  3. Involvement in key city centre events such as Halloween, St. Patricks Day, Music Festivals, community events.

  4. Respond during times of heightened tension and social unrest e.g. 12th July, 12th August, Lundy’s Day and 15th August.
The programme is delivered using the Outreach and Detached Engagement Framework.

S.T.A.R.T. Programme.

This is a strength-based approach to building resilience with young people; creating the space to BE YOUTH LEADERS and a YOUTH SERVICE which EMBODIES the VALUES AND SKILLS to positively IMPACT local communities. To have CONFIDENCE in the interventions and ENABLING RELATIONSHIPS which are PERSON CENTRED and MODELLED; resulting in QUALITY OUTCOMES for our children and young people.

The objectives of the programme are .....

  5. Improved relationships with others & promote active citizenship.

Extended Provision Programme.

Bishop Street Youth & Community Centre is the base for Long Tower youth clubs Extended Provision Programme. This programme aims to provide young people with increased access to youth provision within areas that fall within the top 25% of the MDM and interface areas.

We Provide .....

Events are limited to Saturday and Sundays only. We have three packages that are preconfigured.
  1. Package A: 1 large Bouncy Castle, Sports Hall and Sound System £70.

  2. Package B: 2 large Bouncy Castles, Sports Hall and Sound System £90.

  3. Package C: Functions i.e. Music, Sporting Events (POA).

  2. The Small hall has a capacity of 150 standing, 100 seated.
